About the race

This race was started after the University Ombudsman, Gil Gutierrez, who was an avid runner, was hit and killed by a drunk driver in August of 1993. The run helps to fund the Gil Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship.

Since the first run was held in May of 1994, 44 scholarships have been awarded to Colorado State students.
