RamRide fall operations begin Aug. 26

August 16, 2010

CSU's safe ride program will return Aug. 26. RamRide provides safe, nonjudgmental rides for students with the goal of improving safety of the Fort Collins community.

Safe ride program returns

After suspending operations for summer break, Colorado State's safe, nonjudgmental ride service for CSU students, RamRide, will resume operations August 26.

Rides are provided:

  • Thursday from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
  • Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Rides do not run during school holidays.

With the goal of improving safety of the Fort Collins community, RamRide provides rides without asking for the age of the rider or the reason that they need a ride. This service is operated through the Associated Students of Colorado State University, or ASCSU, in conjunction with Colorado State University and the support of outside vendors.

ASCSU is also looking to aquire a permanent dispatch system and obtain more cars to reduce waiting time.

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are used for all aspects of the program including:

  • manning the phone room
  • driving the vehicles
  • serving as a navigator for the drivers

Each position has different eligibility requirements. You must be 18 to volunteer for any position in RamRide. You can sign up and get more information at the RamRide Volunteer website.
