Community tour to southeastern Colorado Oct. 26-28

October 19, 2009

Colorado State University President Tony Frank and College of Agricultural Sciences Dean Craig Beyrouty are leading a community outreach visit to Lamar, Rocky Ford, and La Junta Oct. 26-28.

The visit will include meetings with university staff located in southeastern Colorado who work with CSU Extension, CSU’s Colorado State Forest Service, the university’s animal diagnostic laboratory, and the Agricultural Experiment Station network.

Additional visits will include connecting with alumni, political officials, business leaders, higher education and community leaders, students, parents and other interested citizens.

Reaching out and listening

“It’s important that we spend time visiting Colorado’s communities, reaching out and listening to their concerns and taking note of their priorities,” Frank said. “Colorado State is the land-grant university and our mission is to provide Coloradans access to education, as well as service and outreach they can use. The best way to find out what people need is ask them.”

Input on CSU's impact in each community

Alumni and friends dinner events, open to anyone who would like to attend, are scheduled in Lamar and La Junta, and will offer the opportunity to hear from university leadership and provide attendees the chance to provide input on CSU’s impact in each community.

The events are free to Alumni Association members and $5 for non-members. Anyone interested in attending can visit or call (800) 286-2586 for more information and to RSVP.

University leaders from the areas of Extension, Agricultural Sciences, Alumni Association, Admissions and others will join Frank for the trip.
