Since 2001, the number of programs to help prepare incoming students with learning disabilities for college, have increased tenfold, from 22 to more than 250 today.
A 2008 survey by the federal government showed that more than 200,000 college students nationwide have been diagnosed with a learning disability, such as dyslexia. The Department of Education now offers grants to post-secondary schools to establish transition programs for students with learning disabilities who want to go to college.
