'The Woman in Black' at Bas Bleu

June 26, 2014

'The Woman in Black' is the quintessential play for fear seekers. It's the story of Arthur Kipps, a solicitor who is summoned to the funeral of an elderly recluse. A creeping sense of unease beings to take hold when he sees a wasted young woman dressed all in black at the funeral.

Masterpiece of terror

Colorado State University theatre alumni are speaking the language of scary in The Woman in Black, showing at Bas Bleu Theatre through Sunday, June 29.

Sitting in the dark telling a ghost story with nothing but the glow of a flashlight by which to see. This is the kind of scary live theatre in which several CSU theatre alumni are involved at Bas Bleu Theatre Co. this summer with their production of The Woman in Black.

Based on a horror novella by Susan Hill, the play tells the story of a small English town that is haunted by a mysterious specter who foretells the death of children. Playing on the power of imagination, the tale makes use of the gothic traditions of describing the setting of a story to spin the eerie tragedy.
