Snowshoeing adventures in Northern Colorado

January 27, 2011

Easy and fun-to-use, snowshoes take you to places in the winter backcountry like nothing else.

Discover snowshoeing!

The Outdoor Program in Campus Recreation has two opportunities this February for learning where to snowshoe, what to expect/take plus a chance to participate in an all-day, instructor-led Snowshoe Adventure in the mountains.

Where to snowshoe in Northern Colorado

Join experienced outdoor leaders from the Outdoor Program for a quick "tour" of ideal snowshoeing trails of:

  • Cameron Pass
  • Colorado State Forest
  • Rocky Mountain National Park

Learn what to take, tips for safety and enjoying your day in the snow. A handout of these trails will be available, too. You can attend this free presentation Wednesday, Feb. 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m in the Student Rec Center, Meeting Room A.

'Snowshoe Adventure' in the Colorado State Forest

Join OP trip leaders for an introduction to the basics of traveling on snow with snowshoes. This all-day snowshoeing trip includes everything you'll need to enjoy the snow experience: warm boots, snowshoes, poles, and a van ride!

The focus of the course will be a short trip on one of the many trails in the Cameron Pass area. The trip will be Saturday, Feb. 5 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please register by Feb. 3 at the Service Center in the Rec Center. The fee is $39 for the general public and $29 for Rec Center members.

For more information please stop by the Outdoor Program Desk in the Student Rec Center between 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. everyday.
