Downtown summer events

June 7, 2011

Fort Collins has bragging rights when it comes to the kind of entertainment it hosts in its downtown district. This summer there is a Thursday night concert series in Old Town Square, a lunch hour concert series in Oak Street Plaza, brewer's festival, a series of gallery walks, and of course, the hugely popular NewWestFest.

It's summertime -- time for kicking back and enjoying the outdoors. Colorado State University students, faculty, staff, conferees, and visitors don't have to go far to find great outdoor entertainment.

There are a number of events taking place in downtown Fort Collins, located only a few minutes from campus.

Thursday Night Concert Series

Bring your chairs and enjoy the Fort Collins' great local music at the Bohemian Nights Old Town Thursday Night Concert Series..

There will be live music from 7-9 p.m. on Old Town Square. While you are in Historic Downtown Fort Collins, plan on dinner and ice cream to make your local music night complete.

First Friday Gallery Walks

First Friday Gallery Walks are held the first Friday of every month from 6-9 p.m. Old Town Fort Collins galleries remain open for this self-guided tour and refreshments are served. Many galleries offer changing exhibits so there is always something new to see each month.

Noontime Notes Concert Series

Think open spaces, a wonderful, relaxed environment, and quality musicians. The Noontime Notes Concert Series continues Tuesdays through Aug. 16. Each concert takes places from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Oak Street Plaza (College and Oak Street).

Bohemian Nights/NewWestFest

Approximately 138 years ago Fort Collins was established along the banks of the Cache la Poudre River. This August, we'll celebrate this birthday with Northern Colorado’s largest festival, Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest, a three-day music program, free and open to the public.  The dates are Friday, Aug. 12 through Sunday, Aug. 14.

The 23rd annual NewWestFest celebration will feature over 80 Colorado bands performing on six music stages in Old Town Fort Collins. Music starts with a kick-off concert at 5:40 p.m. on Friday night. On Saturday and Sunday, music performances begin at 11 a.m. and continue all day.
