Invest in your sweetheart's health this Valentine's Day

February 7, 2014

Brittni Jensen, Director of the Adult Fitness Program in the College of Health and Human Sciences, shares five exercises to do as a couple.

Usually when we think about Valentine's Day, our thoughts turn toward chocolate and candy (not to mention flowers!). But this Valentine's Day, let's think of another way to love our special someone: by personally investing in his or her health.

Brittni Jensen, Director of the Adult Fitness Program in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Colorado State University, shares five exercises to do as a couple. So grab your sweetheart and get your sweat on!

Snowball Fight

Winter blues got you down? Sick of being stuck inside for days on end? Challenge your guy or gal to a snowball fight. Only 15 minutes of hard-core competition can burn approximately 130 calories for a 150-pound person!

Snowshoe Getaway

Going to spend Valentine's weekend on a gorgeous getaway? Take advantage of outdoor trails close to your cabin or lodge and take your love on a snowshoeing expedition. It's all the fun of hiking, but with a winter twist!

February Fans

Can't wait for March Madness? If you and your significant other spend lots of time watching basketball, make the sport work for you! Grab a basketball and during commercial timeouts, perform some partner circuit training. Circuits may include standing back to back while passing the ball, completing sit-ups across from each other and passing the ball at the top of the sit-up, and so on. Get creative!

Race Time

Since spring is just around the corner, that means running races are too! Sign up for a race with your honey and train together. It's a great way to spend quality time with each other while getting your workout in. Not to mention, you always have a running partner!

Partner Up

Let your heart speak by taking some dance classes with your valentine. You can get your groove on, and up the romance factor!
