19th annual Cinco-Cinco May 5 at CSU

Registration is open for the 19th annual Cinco-Cinco 5K run/walk, set for 8:30 a.m. May 5 on the CSU campus.

The Cinco-Cinco 5K has a reputation for offering one-of-a-kind commemorative T-shirts to participants.The Cinco-Cinco is one of the longest-running road races in the area, and attracts hundreds of runners each year. The race was founded by friends of former CSU ombudsman Gil Gutierrez, who was killed by a drunk driver while jogging in 1993.

Helping students

The race raises funds for scholarships for CSU students. More than 65 scholarships have been awarded since the race’s inception, with more than $35,000 raised.

Running on the Oval

The race starts and finishes on the CSU Oval in front of the TiLT building. The race’s certified course gives runners the opportunity to post qualifying times for the upcoming Bolder Boulder.

Entry fee is $22, $17 for CSU students living on campus and $19 for students and runners ages 65 and older. A commemorative T-shirt is included with entry. Dogs and strollers are welcome, and the event includes a free fun run for kids age 8 and under.

Pre-register by May 3 at the Student Rec Center, Foot of the Rockies (150 E. Harmony Road), Runner’s Roost (2720 Council Tree Ave., #112) or race day at the site. Online registration will be accepted through May 3.
