Nancy Ames, Admission Office Employee, died Jan. 9

Nancy Sky Ames, CSU Admission Office employee, passed away at her home in Fort Collins on Sunday, January 9.

Nancy Jean Peters was born August 25, 1943 in Pontiac, Michigan, to Homer and Lucille (Belden) Peters, the second of four children. Nancy had two sisters, Mary Ellen and Susan and a brother, Ronald.

Nancy graduated from Armada High School in Armada, Michigan, in 1961 and married her high school sweetheart, Roger Popp, in 1964. They were blessed with two children, Christy Ann in 1970 and Daniel Roger in 1972. Nancy was able to stay home and raise her children and it was a very important part of their life. She also took numerous college courses and obtained her pilot's license in 1987.

Nancy worked at CSU in the Admissions Office where she felt fortunate to work with close friends.

She has lived in Michigan and New Mexico, and decided to reside in Fort Collins, Colorado due to the fact she loved the mountains and going for drives in them.

Nancy enjoyed cooking and was an excellent baker. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, mystery novels, fishing and spending time with her children, grandchildren and family members.

Nancy is survived by her children, Christy Popo of Austin, Texas; Daniel and his wife Amanda and their daughters Jaimee, Jena and Jacobi, of Peetz, Colorado; sister Mary Ellen Thayer and her husband Leonard of Lemon, South Dakota; sister Susan Trumper and her husband Charles of Ortonville, Michigan; sister-in-law Rosamond Peters of Hilliard, Ohio; and three nephews and two nieces.

Nancy is preceded in death by her father, Homer, her mother, Lucille and her brother, Ronald Peters.

Memorial services for Nancy Ames were held at the Allnutt Drake Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 17th. Cremation has taken place. Memorials can be made in Nancy's name to Heart Center of the Rockies.
