Ergonomics Program offers consults and training

January 13, 2011

Ergonomics is the study of work, and ideally involves fitting the job to the person, not the person to the job. As you begin working, the slight posture changes you might make to accommodate the workstation you are given may not be drastic, but over time they might lead to more serious problems.

The Ergonomics program at Colorado State University is a free service to all employees. Our goal is to prevent the pain and suffering associated with ergonomic-related injuries. This is done through evaluations of workstations and work practices, ergonomic awareness training, and implementation of ergonomic control strategies. We have even implemented a matching funds program to supply workers with up to $500 dollars to help offset the cost of ergonomic interventions.

Monthly trainings

The Ergonomic Program offers training roughly once a month. This training can help raise awareness about ergonomic hazards in the workplace and at home.

The next trainings are scheduled for Dec. 10 and Jan. 5. Current class schedules and registration information is available on online at under the green heading Training Registration.

Matching funds program funded by Risk Management

Training is a required step in the process to obtain funds through the matching funds program funded by CSU’s Risk Management Department.

The first applicants have successfully navigated the matching funds program and have received their equipment. While much of the funding remains, there is only a limited amount available to help purchase equipment for your office workstation. For more details on how to obtain funds for ergonomic equipment, visit and look under the gold heading Ergonomic Equipment Matching Funds Program.
