In Memory

Gary E. Maciel

April 8, 2014

Gary E. Maciel died Friday, April 4.

Dr. Maciel led a life full of adventures and accomplishments that his family is very proud of. He was dedicated to education and made that his passion, second only to his love of spending time with his family.

He taught chemistry for 50 years and taught more than 70 doctoral and master's students, as well as touched many undergraduate's lives. His distinguished career took him to many scientific meetings all over the world and his family was blessed to join him on many of those trips.

Along with a rewarding and fulfilling life in Ft. Collins, Dr. Maciel and his wife, Maxine, enjoyed many good times at their vacation home in Maine. Gary and Maxine have many fond memories with family and friends at both of their homes.

Gary, above all, was a family man and they will continue to hold that deep in their hearts. He was very involved in his grandchildren's lives. He had a passion for traveling, scuba diving, skiing, extreme landscaping and living life to its fullest.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Gary E. Maciel Fellowship Scholarship Fund through the CSU Foundation, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
