Lola Logsdon celebrates 15 years of service

May 2, 2011

When Lola Logsdon was in second grade, she thought her art teacher was the coolest person in the world. 'I wanted to be just like her,' says Logsdon, who is celebrating 15 years of service as an art instructor at CSU.

Long-time Fort Collins resident, CSU alumna

Logsdon moved to Fort Collins when she was just two years old. “We moved here when my father retired from the army, and I have been here ever since,” Logsdon says.

In fact, when Logsdon graduated from Fort Collins High School, it was located in the building that currently houses CSU’s University Center for the Arts. “When I walk down the halls of that building, I can still visualize my high school days. I can still see all of the kids walking around,” Logsdon says.

Academic life

In addition to being a long-time Fort Collins resident, Logsdon is also a CSU alumna.

Logsdon began her undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado-Boulder, but took a break after sophomore year.

“I took some time away from school because I got married and had my children,” Logsdon says. “But I had always planned to go back and finish.” And that’s just what Logsdon did.

In 1983, she came to CSU where she earned her bachelor’s in fine arts with concentrations in ceramics and interior design. Then in 1998, Logsdon earned her master’s in fine arts with a concentration in sculpting.

Working at CSU

While Logsdon was earning her master’s in fine arts at CSU, she began teaching an art course. “I decided it was something I liked, something I enjoyed doing, and I have been fortunate enough to be able to continue,” she says.

At CSU, Logsdon teaches three-dimensional visual fundamentals and the introduction to visual arts courses for non-art majors.

Lola Logsdon will be recognized for her 15 years of service at CSU at Celebrate! CSU Milestones on Thursday, May 5.
