Homecoming 5K Race Oct. 10

What a great way to spend a Saturday, running in the Homecoming 5K race, then enjoying Homecoming and Family Weekend festivities prior to the football game. The 5-kilometer race starts and finishes at the beautiful CSU Oval.

Oval Drive on campus

A healthy family 5K run/walk to celebrate CSU's Homecoming! The event starts at 8 a.m. and covers a flat on-campus course, beginning and ending on the beautiful CSU Oval. [Map]

Both runners and walkers of all ages are welcome to participate. Children are invited to take part in the free Kids' Fun Run led by Cam the Ram.

Children 12 and under are also eligible for a discounted rate on the full 5K, should they choose to run it (discount available only if the child is pre-registered by 4 p.m. on Oct. 2). 

Parking is available at the Colorado State University Lory Student Center parking lot. The CSU Oval will be closed to traffic from all directions on the morning of the race. 

Supporting healthy lifestyles

Proceeds from the race will support the Heart Disease Prevention Program of the Human Performance Clinical/Research Lab. The Heart Disease Program provides an opportunity for individuals to be screened for all the risk factors for heart disease.   

Age Divisions/Timing

The age divisions are men and women (each): 10 and under; 11-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 and above.

This year there will be championship chip timing for the race. First, second, and third place finishers in each division will receive a hand-crafted piece of pottery by local artist T.S. Berger. There also will be a prize drawing during the awards ceremony.  Race entrants must be present to win.

  • Race Day registration (in person only), $30

All pre-registered runners and walkers will receive a uniquely designed long-sleeved T-shirt. Those who register late may have to pick up their shirts ar a later date, depending on the supply.

Kids Fun Run at 9 a.m.

A free Kids Fun Run will take place at about 9 a.m. at the Oval after the 5K events. There will be a 0.3 mile course for kids under 5 and a 0.7 mile course for kids 5 to 12.  All finishers will receive ribbons. 


Pre-registration closes Friday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m. Registration on the morning of the run will start at 6:30 a.m. on Oval Drive and will close promptly at 7:45 a.m.
