September 24, 2009

The "My Favorite Lecture" series, part of TILT's Learning Programs initiatives, connects great teachers with students who might be interested in hearing some of CSU's best professors talk about issues in their disciplines. "My Favorite Lecture" series

The Institute for Learning and Teaching (TILT) kicks off a new program, called the “My Favorite Lecture” series, with a talk by Dr. B.E. Rollin. Rollin’s lecture on “Animal Rights as a Mainstream Phenomenon,” is set for Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 4 p.m. in the TILT Auditorium.

Dr. Rollin, a University Distinguished Professor, Professor of Philosophy, Animal Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, and University Bioethicist, is the first to give a “favorite lecture” for the series.

The “My Favorite Lecture” series, part of TILT’s Learning Programs initiatives, connects great teachers with students who might be interested in hearing some of Colorado State University’s best professors talk about issues in their disciplines. There will be three “My Favorite Lectures” in Fall 2009.

Many CSU students do not have room in their course schedules to reach beyond their own disciplines, particularly when they are in their junior and senior years or in graduate school. The “My Favorite Lecture” provides CSU students the opportunity to consider ideas they might not otherwise encounter as they work on their courses and pursue their degrees, and to learn from professors who are well know at and beyond the University.

A reception with refreshments follows the lecture, providing an opportunity for students to talk with Dr. Rollin and other students about ideas brought up by the lecture.
