Summer is typically the season for deferred maintenance at CSU, and many parking lots will be getting a facelift in the coming weeks. Filling cracks, resealing, and repainting stalls minimizes the number of lots that need to be completely repaved.
Campus is typically less-populated during the summer months, which means maintenance can be done with less disruption to campus life. However, work at CSU takes place year-around, and some lot closures may disrupt the daily routine of employees and others for a few days.
Parking Services workers are in their final push to complete all projects before students return for the fall 2011 semester.
Typical lot maintenance takes two to three days (Parking Services plans to close a lot for three days, but tries to limit the work to two days), depending on size and contractor's schedule.
• First day – asphalt cracks are filled.
• Second day – lot is sealed.
• Late on the second or on the third day – lot is restriped.
