Colorado State will face Wyoming twice this week, once in football and once in the fourth annual the Border War Blood Drive.

The blood drive will be held in the Hall of Fame Room in Moby Arena (in the south concourse) on Friday, Nov. 19, and will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Winner earns bronze heart trophy

Fort Collins’ Garth Englund Blood Center will be conducting the event to benefit the Poudre Valley Hospital, which treats the Northern Colorado community. The blood drive, sponsored by CSU’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee, pits the Fort Collin’s community against the University of Wyoming and Larimer County.

This friendly competition is open to all CSU students, faculty and staff. The winner receives the illustrious bronze heart trophy, a travelling trophy that has been awarded to CSU for the past three years. Last year’s competition was close but CSU collected 334 pints of blood compared to Wyoming’s 310.

Become part of a select group

When you make a blood donation, you join a very select group. Currently only 3 out of every 100 people in America donate blood. Join the community of generous people who consider donating blood their form of volunteerism--their way of making a difference in their community.

Free food, drinks

Free food and drinks will be provided to all those who donate to this great cause. The event is scheduled this time every year because the holidays are traditionally a slow time for blood donations, but are also the time when they are most needed. Participants will also be given a free “I bleed Green and Gold” T-shirt, as long as supplies last.

Benefits of donating blood
