CSU hosts inaugural Colorado Veterans in Higher Education Summit Jan. 27

Student veterans from across Colorado will gather for the first-ever Veterans in Higher Education Summit on Jan. 27 at Colorado State University.

Colorado Veterans in Higher Education Summit 2012 at CSU Jan. 27The Rocky Mountain Coalition for Veteran Support Services, the Colorado State Board of Veterans Affairs, and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve will be on hand to help student veterans at the Summit.

Increasing the success of student veterans

“The goal of this event is to bring together student veterans, administrators, faculty, service organizations and businesses eager to share ideas and increase the success of veterans as they pursue higher education,” said Jenny Pickett, assistant director of Adult Learners and Veterans Services at CSU.

The Summit will be held from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the North Ballroom of the Lory Student Center on campus. Student veterans will be able to attend a series of seminars focused on issues important to them.

Effective practices for supporting student veterans

As part of this summit, the Rocky Mountain Coalition for Veteran Support Services will host a one-day symposium for administrators at universities and colleges in Colorado and Wyoming to exchange ideas and effective practices for supporting student veterans at institutions. 

Student veteran leaders also will have the opportunity to meet with administrators to discuss issues of concern for both groups to ensure that Colorado and Wyoming remain on the cutting edge in providing support services for student veterans.
