Janet Kay Moad, a Registrar's office employee, died Aug. 19 following a long battle with cancer

Janet Kay Moad, 54, of Fort Collins passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010 at the Pathways Hospice Care Center in Loveland following a long battle with cancer.

Janet was born June 6, 1956 in Sterling to Melvin and Dorothy June (Pabst) Honebein. She attended Sterling schools and graduated from Northeastern Junior College in 1976. After graduating she worked in Steamboat Springs, Juneau, Alaska, and Sterling before settling in Fort Collins where she worked for the driver's license bureau. She met Marty Moad at the Sundance and they were married in 1991. He died in 2007. After marriage she began work for Colorado State University where she remained until her death.

Janet loved the outdoors, animals, Hot Air Balloons and especially her family and friends. As a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, she was active in the cancer support group.

Survivors include her son Jeremy Moad, sister LuAnn (Curt) Wiederspan of Eaton, and brother Richard Honebein of Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Memorial service Aug. 25

A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010 at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Runtsch officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church Janet Moad Memorial Fund for her son's education in care of Vessey Funeral Service.
