'Talking to the Public about Complex Biomedical Issues' April 5

Grad students, are you interested in learning more about how to present science issues to the public? 'Talking to the Public about Complex Biomedical Issues' will feature three guest speakers who will discuss this topic.

Learn communication strategies

The Office of the Vice President for Research invites you to attend an event designed to help graduate students learn strategies toward effective communication about scientific discovery.

The event will include opening remarks from Peter Dorhout (Vice President for Graduate Affairs), followed by three speakers:

  • William Farland (VP for Research) will talk about “Risky Business: Communicating Public Health Concerns”
  • Richard Bowen will talk about “West Nile Virus: Public Concerns and Research Priorities”
  • Featured speaker, Rebecca Skloot (award-winning author and CSU alumna), will talk about “A Journalist’s Tips for Communicating Science to the Public”

A networking reception will follow the talks at 4 p.m. at which posters on “Resources for Graduate Students at CSU” will be displayed. All are welcomed to attend this free event.
