Regents give University of Colorado students a say in fees (whether they want it or not)

A rule approved Nov. 12 by University of Colorado regents guarantees that students will have a say in whether their fees are raised to pay for projects that require long-term debt - even if they don't want it.

University of Colorado Regent Tom Lucero proposed the rule because he was worried that students weren't getting their proper say about substantial increases to fees.

However, students voted on a referendum last spring indicating they didn't want the right to vote on long-term debt.  A key concern is that only a small number of students participate in campus-wide votes.
