Making the move off campus?

March 7, 2011

Leasing a property is a legally binding contract that can affect credit scores, records, and more. Finding a quality place with a fair lease can be a daunting process. Also, there are many ordinances in place in the city that if not understood, can create an un-idealistic semester for students.

Renting101: Preferred Tenant Workshop!

This workshop has been developed for students to learn:

  • the rental process
  • become expert tenants
  • information regarding leases
  • tenant’s rights
  • codes and ordinances
  • budgets
  • parties
  • and more!

This event is taking place on March 10 at 5:30 p.m. in LSC room 214.

All of this information will be laid out and explained by the experts like:

  • Kathleen Harward, Director of Student Legal Services
  • Polly Lauridsen with Code Compliance
  • Mike Gebo with Building Inspections
  • Connie Jaime-Lujan with Financial Aid at CSU
  • Ginny Sawyer with Neighborhood Services for the City of Ft. Collins
  • Adrienne Battis, Assistant Director/Community Liaison and Off-Campus Life staff

By taking this rental workshop, students will come away with the knowledge and resources to make finding a place--and living off campus--a much easier process. The student will also receive a certificate of completion that can be shared with landlords.

This event is free, but students must register by clicking on the “Renting101: Preferred Tenant Workshop Registration” link on the Off-Campus Life homepage by visiting The deadline to sign up is Mar. 9.
