Scholarship for students committed to service

The SLiCE office is pleased to announce the Johnson Foundation Community Service Scholarship is available to students who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service. Five scholarship recipients will be awarded $5,000 each for the 2011-12 academic year.

Apply for new SLiCE scholarship

Students seecking scholarship must be currently enrolled at full-time status, fee-paying, and in good standing at CSU with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to be eligible to apply.

Individuals may only receive the scholarship once and must commit to completing five hours of community service per week during the 2011-12 academic year, present a poster of his/her community service involvement at the Praxis Showcase in April 2012, meet twice per semester with the SLiCE Assistant Director for Volunteer Programs and attend one group event for all scholarship recipients per semester hosted by SLiCE.

Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service through volunteering, community engagement, and activist activities. In addition, students who are committed to social justice and diversity and demonstrate a link between their volunteer experience and their personal and professional goals are more likely to receive the scholarship.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Apr. 1 in the SLiCE office on the main level of the LSC. Students will be notified by April 15 and recipients will be notified by May 13. For more information, contact Jen Johnson.
