CSU professor to appear on C-Span2 program

April 2, 2014

Jared Orsi, assistant professor of history, will be featured Sunday on C-Span2's "Book TV" talking about his new book on famed explorer Zebulon Pike.

Orsi’s recently published book, “Citizen Explorer: The Life of Zebulon Pike” chronicles the adventures of Pike, for whom Pike’s Peak is named. Pike also searched for the headwaters of the Mississippi, Arkansas and Red rivers, and served a distinguished military career.

Orsi first presented the book on campus in March.

“This project has been long in the making,” Orsi said. “I am most gratified by the enthusiastic reception it has received, especially the support from CSU faculty, staff, students, and friends who turned out for the campus presentation of the book last month.”

First time on program

This will be Orsi’s first appearance on "Book TV". His presentation was taped during a recent book talk at the Cherry Creek branch of the Denver Public Library. The show airs at 4:15 MDT Sunday.

"Book TV" debuted in 1998 on C-Span2, and annually showcases nearly 2,000 established authors and up to 60,000 nonfiction titles. Programming focuses on books on government, politics and history.

Book signing Saturday

Orsi is having a book signing and brief talk from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Old Firehouse Books, 232 Walnut St. in Fort Collins.
