"Levels of Perception"

The CSU Dance Program presents "Levels of Perception," a showcase of the choreographic and performance talents of Colorado State University Dance majors Mallory Buffer, Karleen Hughes and Mary Wilson.

Outstanding, original dance

"Levels of Perception" is a capstone project. A number of dancers, designers, and technicians will collaborate to create an outstanding and original dance showcase.

As a graduation requirement, the three seniors each choreographed a group piece and a solo performance. The hour long presentation represents the training and education these dancers have received at Colorado State.

Provoking a perception of color...

Mallory Buffer's work is an orginal and stimulating group piece that includes unique images, bracing movements and intimate interaction among her nine dancers.  This four-section piece is designed to provoke the perception of color through movement.

Imagery of a mirror...

Karleen Hughes believes "this production will be energetic, original, and fascinating." Her own group work captivates with the fluid interaction between the dancers as they portray the reflective imagery of a mirror.

I am excited to present this piece alongside the works of Mary and Mallory, and this concert is particularly special to me because I get to perform onstage with both my fiance and sister who will be accompanying my solo work."

Choreography with live music and prop

Mary Wilson says of the showcase, "I am extremely excited to be working with Karleen and Mallory on this important concert.  They are both talented, hard working dancers, and are producing amazing choreography.

Our choreographic styles are all very different, and I think our concert is going to be extremely diverse!"  Wilson's group piece will include choreography with a prop and feature live music.
