Student Involvement Expo Sept. 1

August 27, 2010

The Student Involvement Expo has existed in a variety of forms for over 20 years. Formerly known as Centertainment, then known as the Student Involvement Fair, and now known as the Involvement Expo, this event has existed in its current form for the past 3 years. It continues to be a huge success.

A more positive experience

Student Leadership, Involvement, and Civic Engagement (SLiCE) Coordinator Deanna Leone thinks it's important for all students to attend the Student Involement Expo. The research shows why.

Research has shown that students who get involved throughout their college career tend to have higher GPAs, greater success rates in finding jobs or advanced degrees after graduating, and are more likely to graduate on time.

Leone helps coordinate the Student Involvement Expo which helps students get involved.

"We also find that students who get involved have better access to resources and have a more positive experience while in college."

The Expo started as a way to get students exposed to the variety of involvement opportunities here at CSU.

"We wanted to share opportunities through both “Registered Student Organizations” and community service/volunteer opportunities with our local service agencies here in Fort Collins."

What to expect

The Expo brings together 200 organizations, which is a combination between student groups and local services agencies. The student groups and community agencies come in a variety of types such as:

  • pre-professional clubs
  • culturally diverse clubs
  • Greek life
  • social organizations
  • religious organizations
  • political groups
  • animal shelters
  • youth services
  • health & social services
  • United Way
  • the food bank

The event is free for all CSU students, faculty, and staff to attend.

  • Wednesday, Sept. 1
