CSU Chamber Choir guests at Southwest American Choral Directors Conference 2010

March 10, 2010

The Colorado State University Chamber Choir, directed by James Kim, sang at the Southwest American Choral Directors Association Conference held in Denver Feb. 24-27. The CSU Chamber Choir was one of four Colorado choirs invited to participate in the opening concert for the conference.

Spectacular performance

The CSU Chamber Choir is the top-select choir.

The Chamber Choir delivered a spectacular performance of Monteverdi’s Sestina Lagrime d’Amante al Sepolcro dell’ Amata, followed by the Sanctus from Martin’s Mass for Double Choir, and the Cum Sancto Spiritu from Hyo-won Woo’s Gloria. The choir closed with a piece that has become a signature work, Abide with Me by Moses Hogan.

CSU assistant professor of music education, Leila Heil, attended the performance.

“I think that I can speak for all audience members who were affiliated in any way with CSU by stating that we felt excited and proud to have such outstanding representation of our music program in such a visible venue.”

Following the concert, a choral colleague who works with professional-level singers stated, “Wow, I don’t’ think I have ever heard the Monteverdi set sung better.”
