State of Colorado Dependent Eligibility Audit

Dear state-classified employees,

We have been informed by the state that the Department of Personnel & Administration (DPA) has contracted with Health Management Services (HMS) to perform a confidential audit of dependent eligibility for the State benefit plans. HMS is an independent, third-party organization that specializes in collecting documentation to verify enrollment eligibility to assist in managing rising healthcare costs.

This request for documentation is valid, and we strongly encourage employees to provide the requested information no later than May 30, 2011.

It is important for employees to respond to the letter they receive from HMS timely. Employees who don’t respond and provide the required documentation will be at risk of having dependents dropped from coverage.
