Demos for new RamCT system Aug. 17 & 18

August 10, 2010

On Aug. 17 and 18, students and faculty will get a first look at the two of the possible new systems CSU will use for RamCT in the 2012 school year. The demos will be available for view online and allow the CSU community to vote for their favorite.

Change is coming

The RamCT learning management system CSU currently uses will be phased out by the vendor in 2012. To be clear, no courses need to be changed before 2012. CSU is now evaluating our new system options.

Given the large scale of the CSU learning environment, the future LMS system evaluation has been narrowed to include the following two choices:

  • Sakai2, an open source Collaboration and Learning Environment application.
  • Blackboard's new product, Bb Learn 9

Sakai2 and Bb Learn 9 demonstrations

  • rSmart, a Sakai2 technical support provider, will demonstrate their product on Aug. 17
  • Blackboard will demonstrate their product, Bb Learn 9, on Aug. 18, 2010
  • Demonstrations will run from 9 to 10 a.m. in Rockwell West 107
  • General questions will be addressed from 10 to 11 a.m.
  • Demonstrations will be repeated from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
  • Repeat demo questions/answers from 2:30 to 3 p.m.

Your voice counts

For the convenience of individuals unable to attend these presentations, these sessions will be video-taped and posted online for viewing through the end of September 2010 on RamCT website. This website also explains the project process and project timeline. You will be able to login with your CSU eID to view the demonstrations and an online survey will be available for your feedback.

Please participate in this very important decision process for our campus community!
