Family and Medical Leave Act Review Sessions

March 10, 2009

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) recently published final changes to the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) regulations representing the first substantial revisions to the Act since its inception in 1993. The changes, effective January 16, 2009, clarify the new Military Family Leave Amendments and modify certain aspects of FMLA administration, which include employer notice requirements.

The existing FMLA Notice and medical certification forms have been updated to comply with the new regulations issued by the DOL. Additional forms, including a designation notice, medical certification for family members and notices intended for Military Family Leave have also been implemented.

The following training sessions will be held to explain the regulatory changes and to provide a form completion overview:

Wednesday, March 11, 2009
11 a.m.-noon
LSC Room 213-215

Thursday, March 12, 2009
9-10 a.m.
LSC Room 213-5

The FMLA training sessions will be conducted by HRS staff and we look forward to your participation. If you have any FMLA related questions, please feel free to contact the Benefits Office at (970) 491-6737.
