State and conference rivals CSU and Air Force on Saturday will square off other for the 50th time. The series dates to 1957.
Longtime rivals CSU and Air Force will celebrate their 50th meeting on the football field Saturday when the Rams host the Falcons in a 4 p.m. game at Hughes Stadium.
The Rams will be seeking just their second home win of the season. Two of their three wins have come on the road.
Air Force, which came into the season with high hopes for a Mountain West title, has struggled at times but still is in the hunt for a bowl berth.
The CSU-Air Force series began in 1957, one year after the Academy first fielded a team. CSU won the inaugural game 20-7 but Air Force went 12-1-1 in the first 14 games.
The Rams and Falcons have played every year since 1978, with Air Force leading the series 29-19-1 – including five consecutive victories.
The winner today will be presented with the Ram-Falcon Trophy, the unique hand-carved prize given to the winner every year since 1980. Air Force leads 18-13 in trophy games.
