State Classified Leave Sharing Bank donations needed

July 16, 2009

The Leave Sharing Bank for state classified employees is in need of donated annual leave hours. This program provides some income protection to eligible state classified employees who need to be absent from work for a prolonged period of time for serious medical hardship or catastrophic illness or injury, but who have inadequate paid time-off accumulated to cover the absences.

Income protection for co-workers with catastrophic illness or injury

Donations of annual leave time to the Leave Sharing Bank are required to ensure future funding for approved applications.

Your contributions assure the continued success of this valuable program for you and your state classified co-workers.

Donate forfeited annual accrual

Donations of accumulated annual leave time can be made at any time throughout the year (sick leave may not be donated).

In addition, hours forfeited that exceed your allowed maximum annual leave accrual at the end of the fiscal year may be donated provided the form is received in the Benefits Office by Tuesday, June 30, 2009.

Oracle Payroll/Personnel entry

Your department staff member that is responsible for Oracle Payroll/Personnel entry can assist you with this process. They will enter any donated hours into the Oracle Leave Module as "AL taken" prior to the new fiscal year when leave batches are transferred.

Your donation is in hours, not the dollars represented by the hours. You may only contribute "annual leave" in blocks of 4 hours in accordance with State of Colorado State Personnel Department procedures. You also have the option of donating your annual leave hours directly to a specific state classified employee when they apply for the CSU Leave Bank.
