The first of three informational meetings hosted by CSU's Office of General Counsel familiarizes managers, supervisors, and other leaders with student rights and responsibilities in the classroom and on campus.

The Office of the General Counsel is hosting three informational meetings for CSU managers, supervisors, and other leaders.

Practical, relevant information will be shared and you’ll have the chance to become acquainted with the staff from the Office of The General Counsel and their specific areas of expertise.

First Session: July 30

The Thursday, July 30 session, “Students Rights and Responsibilities in the Classroom and on Campus” will delve into:

  • Accommodations for disability
  • Privacy issues in relation to student records
  • First Amendment rights as they apply to students in the classroom and on campus in residence halls, buildings, and open spaces
  • Due process rights as they relate to disciplinary action, given the parameters of:
- Academic dishonesty – what guidelines should one use in grading decisions?

- Violation of the Student Code of Conduct
  • Different rights and responsibilities (in connection with constitutional laws, statutory laws, and university codes and policies) in the spheres of residential living, social, political, and religious activities
