Eubanks earns MWC Pitcher of the Week honor

Kelli Eubanks was selected Tuesday morning as the Pitcher of the Week in the Mountain West Conference for her stellar performance last weekend at the San Diego Classic I. The weekly honor is Eubanks' first of her career.

Eubanks, a native of Troutdale, Ore., improved to 5-1 this season, going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 21.0 innings pitched for CSU. The freshman pitched two complete-game shutout victories over Oregon and UC Davis, leading the Rams to a 3-2 overall mark at the tournament. Opponents hit just .176 against her, as she also made two appearances in relief for Colorado State.

In the 4-0 loss to No. 4/3 UCLA, Eubanks held the Bruins scoreless over the final 2.2 innings. She opened the tournament by tying a career-high mark with seven strikeouts in 4.1 innings of scoreless relief in the Rams’ game vs. San Diego. Eubanks leads the CSU pitching staff with an ERA of 1.57, earning four shutouts and striking out 41 in 53.2 innings. She also has hurled a team-leading five complete games.

Eubanks and the Rams are 12-8 to open the season, tied for the top record in the Mountain West Conference. The team is idle this week and will resume action March 13-15 at the National Invitational Softball Tournament in San Jose, Calif. The Rams’ home opener is scheduled for March 28, a doubleheader vs. Northern Colorado, beginning at noon.
