Preview welcomes first-year students

Over the next six weeks, recent high school graduates will be flooding the campus to receive their first glimpse into college life. During Preview, students will obtain their student IDs, register for courses, and become more familiar with the campus.

Welcome, first year-students!

Preview dates for first-year student orientation are filling up, but there are still several open sessions and sessions with waitlists available. 

The Preview Orientation and Registration Program is designed specifically for freshman students and is a great way to meet other students and the best way to guarantee that you: 

  • Complete academic advising
  • Register for fall classes
  • Learn about the many resources available on campus

Here's a Preview checklist to help you become more prepared for your experience.

Things to do before you arrive:
  • Establish your eID
  • Send in your immunization forms to:

Things to do during your Preview session:
  • Meet with an academic advisor and register for fall classes
  • Learn about graduation requirements
  • Take the MPE proctored exam, must have a photo ID (if applicable)
  • Take a Foreign Language Placement proctored exam (if applicable)
  • Get your Ram Card (a charge will be assessed to your student account)
  • Order your text books from the CSU Bookstore
  • Meet other students
  • Explore campus involvement opportunities
  • Learn about academic resources and student services on campus
  • Learn about what it means to be a CSU student!
Things to bring to Preview:
  • A photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport)
  • Immunization forms (if you haven't already mailed them to Hartshorn Health Service)
  • Comfortable clothes and shoes
  • Necessary toiletries for overnight lodging
  • Questions

Colorado State University and Fort Collins are situated along the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. During your visit to CSU and Preview, you might want to build in some time to explore the area's recreational opportunities, diverse cultural attractions, restaurants, and shopping.
