Colorado State excels at Colorado Relay

Colorado State University, students, alumni, and faculty made a strong showing at the Colorado Relay, a fundraiser for Outward Bound, on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11-12. The course runs from Georgetown to Carbondale and goes over several high mountain passes.

"Robe Runners" won relay

The Robe Runners won the relay in 19 hours, 35 minutes. Several of the 10 team members have strong ties to Colorado State University including:

  • Simon Tavener, chair of the math department
  • Frank Antonelli, alumnus and employee
  • Phil Klotzbach, alumnus and employee
  • Steve Saleeby, employee

The team covered the 170.6 mile course with more than 11,000 feet of vertical climb at an average pace of 6 minutes, 53 seconds per mile.

CSU's Outdoor Club won education division

The CSU Outdoor Club also had a very successful relay race, winning the education division with a time of 23 hours, 59 minutes. Elizabeth Boese is captain of the CSU Outdoor Club team.
