Monfort family honored with inaugural Colorado State University Founders Day Medal

February 12, 2010

As part of the CSU Founders Day celebration Feb. 11, the Monfort family was honored by CSU President Tony Frank and ASCSU President Gearhart and presented the inaugural Colorado State University Founders Day Medal for their great contributions to the university.

Scholarships, faculty support, and public lectures

Along with their many contributions to Colorado State University over the decades, the Monfort Family Foundation in 2002 gave CSU $5 million – at the time, the largest single gift in university history – to support the Monfort Excellence Fund.

The Monfort Legacy at CSU

The Monfort Excellence Fund has had a tremendous impact on Colorado State University students, faculty, and the Northern Colorado community through its:

  • scholarships for exceptional students
  • its support of outstanding faculty
  • by bringing accomplished leaders from business, government and the arts to campus to interact with students
  • its public lectures delivered by international leaders

Generosity exceeds $10 million

To date, the Monfort Family Foundation has given CSU more than $10 million.
