Labor Day Holiday Sept. 7

August 25, 2009

Labor Day, a federal holiday that falls on Monday, Sept. 7, is an official university holiday. University offices will be closed. No classes will be held. Enjoy a long, three-day weekend in beautiful Colorado!

History of Labor Day

In 1894, Congress passed an act making the first Monday of September a legal holiday in honor of the American worker and our traditional ideals of economic and political democracy.

Today, Labor Day is often observed as a day of rest.

Football season kicks off

Labor Day is also regarded as the beginning of the NFL and college football seasons. The Colorado State University football season kicks off Sunday, Sept. 6 in Boulder [more].
