Smart chip RamCards: Your ticket to MAX, Transfort

May 7, 2014

Starting May 19, CSU faculty and staff will be eligible to ride the new MAX bus rapid transit and all Transfort fixed-routes (excluding Transfort Green and Gold night services and Dial-A-Ride) at no cost as an employee benefit.

The benefit will also extend to Around the Horn, the new on-campus shuttle with 13 stops that will start later this summer.

Upgrade your card

Employees will be required to carry a RamCard containing a smart chip to access the new services. Starting at noon Thursday, May 8, CSU faculty and staff can stop by the RamCard Office to trade in their current RamCard for a free upgraded chip card. The RamCard Office is currently located in Room 203 of Morgan Library and is open Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. during the academic year and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the summer while the LSC is under renovation.

The new smart chip RamCard is already in use for door access in many buildings across campus and can also be used to access the tennis courts. If you are currently using your RamCard for building or tennis court access you are already upgraded and do not need to trade in your card. Likewise, if you have a RamCard Plus you already have a smart chip and do not need to trade your card.

Stop in before Ram Orientation

Faculty and staff are advised to trade in cards before Ram Orientation begins June 9 as that is a high volume period with all incoming CSU students getting their RamCards during orientation.

The trade-in process is relatively simple. Just bring your current RamCard to the RamCard Office for a trade. If your photo on file is relatively recent, you can choose to reuse it or request a new photo.

Employees and associates who have not yet received a RamCard are eligible for their first card free. Visit the RamCard Office and bring a valid government-issued identification (driver’s license, passport, or military ID) with you to request your first card.

If you have lost your RamCard, you can purchase a replacement card with the smart chip in it.

Banking available, too

All employees are eligible to request a free upgrade to a RamCard Plus when you trade in your card.  A RamCard Plus provides debit banking services with First National Bank, CSU's official banking partner. The "First at Work" series of products and services are designed specifically for our campus.

Student RamCards are already equipped with the smart chip technology, and do not need to be replaced.
