Household Hazardous Waste Collection

On Saturday, September 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the City of Fort Collins Utility Department will be collecting items such as paint, pesticides, and cleaning products. Bring your hazardous waste to us and we'll safely dispose of it for you. For free.

Free, convenient disposal

The City of Fort Collins Utilities Department is once again hosting its free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, September 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This event is free and open to Fort Collins residents – commercial waste will not be accepted. Limit of 30 gallons per household.

Drop-off items we accept:

  • Pesticides
  • Painting products
  • Household batteries (car batteries not accepted)
  • Compact fluorescents
  • Cleaning and automotive products
  • Items containing mercury (such as thermostats and thermometers)

Items we can't accept:

  • E-waste
  • Tires
  • Asbestos
  • Explosives
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Bio-waste (needles, bandages)
