Season ends for four outstanding Ram seniors

November 30, 2012

The Rams' 2012 season, which included a conference championship and 18th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, ended with a loss to Purdue.

CSU’s memorable 2012 volleyball season came to an end Friday when the Rams lost in three sets to No. 21 Purdue in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Tallahassee, Fla.

The Rams fell 25-20, 25-18, 25-19, ending their season with a 21-8 record.

Seniors moving on

The loss ended the outstanding careers of four seniors: Dana Cranston, Megan Plourde, Brieon Paige and Izzy Gaulia. They combined for four Mountain West titles and helped extend CSU’s remarkable string of NCAA Tournament appearances to 18. Cranston, the player of the year, Pourde and Paige made the all-conference team.

The season also saw coach Tom Hilbert, in his 16th season, earn his 400th career victory at CSU.

Talented group returns

The Rams return several key players for the 2013 season, including all-conference setter Deedra Foss, sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Snider, freshman outside hitter Kaila Thomas and freshman opposite hitter Adrianna Culbert.
