Working at CSU

Everyday Hero Randy Lamb

February 23, 2009

Randy Lamb is an Everyday Hero because for the past 9 months, he has been one of the main 'go to' guys for maintenance (non-kitchen equipment) work orders at the Rams Horn Dining Commons, and most recently for the new Conference Services Building.

Structural Trades II
Housing and Dining Operations Management

Randy was nominated by Allison Fox of Housing and Dining Operations Management. He has been employed with CSU for almost two years in his present position as a carpenter with special projects for Housing and Dining Services.

Here is what Allison had to say about Randy:

"Randy is always available and willing to drop whatever he is working on to go take care of something “urgent” for either of these buildings. Randy is known for walking the Rams Horn almost daily to make sure everything is in working order. He pays particular attention to all of the lights and sneeze guards! There are multiple types of light fixtures in the Rams Horn and many of the fixtures are not the same throughout. He has taken it upon himself to become familiar with the types of lights and even assisted with warranty work just so he could “learn” about the lights. Randy is the type of employee who never complains and is always out and about (quietly) pro-actively checking on buildings and equipment to make sure all are in working condition."

Randy moved here from California three years ago. He loves hunting, fishing, playing golf, hiking, camping, and reading historical books (military and biographies). Because of his love of outdoor activities, Randy has fallen “in love” with Fort Collins and Colorado. “I like my work and being a part of the CSU Community. I love Fort Collins, the parks and Rocky Mountain National Park.” He rides his bike to work every day when the weather allows between March and October.

Randy is a member of the Housing and Dining Services Morale Focus Group. They arrange social activities for the employees, with an event happening almost every month. Randy said everyone in the department tries to stay upbeat and the events let them enjoy their working relationships. When asked how he feels about being nominated an Everyday Hero, Randy said “it is humbling and flattering. I enjoy what I do and who I work with.”

Congratulations Randy Lamb!
