CSU welcomes back veterans

January 21, 2009

For some student veterans and military, spring semester at Colorado State is a continuation of their journey toward completing a degree in higher education. The beginning of the term is even more significant for those who are coming home from active duty to the United States and Colorado.

Veteran welcome

The Office of Off-Campus Student Services and Resources for Adult Learners is planning a spring semester kick-off and welcome for student veterans and military and their families on Sunday, Jan. 25 from 2-4 p.m. in the Lory Student Center, room 195.

Kick-off events

This gathering will include drawings for prizes, food, a chance to meet other student veterans and military, and information about various on and off-campus resources available to serve student veterans.

Veterans Green Jobs

You'll also have a chance to hear about the the Veterans Green-Jobs Alliance. Veterans Green Jobs provides training opportunities for military veterans in the merging green-collar jobs sector.  By supporting both veterans and the development of a green economy, the VGJ’s work is restorative to our veterans, our economy and our planet.

The VGJ addresses three primary needs:

  • Military veterans' need for meaningful, restorative careers
  • Our country's need for a green-collar workforce
  • Veterans' and veterans organizations' needs for supporting post-war civilian reintegration
