Spring cleaning gives RecycleMania numbers a boost!

March 10, 2011

The University is half-way through the national RecycleMania competition and is currently number 18 out of 630 participating colleges and universities. This is good news, but CSU is aiming higher! So faculty, staff, and students it's time to take action.

RecyclemaniaSpring cleaning will help boost CSU's ranking

You can help boost the recycling numbers by doing some much needed spring cleaning and purging your old papers, magazines, catalogs, phone books, newspapers, books, envelopes, posters, and more! Integrated Solid Waste can make this as easy as possible by delivering your very own 95-gallon recycling container(s).

To request a spring cleaning recycling bin, call (970) 491-0113 and leave a message with your building name and room number for delivery. Talk with your office mates, building residents, or students about sharing the container. You can even promote a Paper Purge Party! When the bins are full, or you have finished using them, contact Integrated Solid Waste for a pick-up.

Academic Village and I-House/Lory are in the lead

This is also a great opportunity for the residence halls and apartment complexes to boost their recycling numbers for the internal RecycleMania competition. Currently Academic Village and I-House/Lory are in the lead.

Recycling tips

Once you’ve purged that extra weight, keep it off by using and circulating electronic documents. If you do have to print, make sure it’s double sided. Review your practices and set goals around creating less paper waste. Recycling containers full of paper waste are an excellent visual to support paper reduction goals.

Confidential documents should be shredded, but please shred only necessary Recyclemania scoreboarddocuments. Shredded paper is less valuable in the recycling stream and can only be made into lower-grade paper products.

Now is your chance to clean-up, get organized, start using less paper, and make an impact on CSU’s final standing in RecycleMania!
