CSU Ventures Ambassador program needs students

Deadline for applications is Aug. 9 for graduate students in scientific, technical or artistic disciplines.

CSU Ventures 2012-13 AmbassadorsCSU Ventures, the technology commercialization partner of Colorado State University, is looking for a few good grad students interested in discovering and moving technologies from early concept to the marketplace who would like to become CSUV Ambassadors.

The CSUV Ambassador Program enhances the vital connection between research at CSU and CSU Ventures.  By engaging student interns to serve as CSUV Ambassadors on campus, this pilot scale effort will augment CSUV’s visibility and presence among researchers on campus.

For the 2013-14 academic year, CSUV is seeking between five and seven student ambassadors to assist and aid in the development of innovative strategies to:

  • Increase understanding and awareness of CSUV’s role across all academic departments
  • Help CSUV  become more proactive in anticipating and identifying innovative research, creative works and potential inventions
  • Enhance CSUV’s engagement in the scientific and creative enterprises on campus

Qualified applicants

Graduate students in scientific, artistic or technical disciplines -- from agriculture and art to computer sciences and proteomics -- are eligible to apply to become CSUV Ambassadors. Applicants must obtain approval from their primary advisor to participate in the program, and must be able to commit 3-5 per week to the program. A mandatory 10-hour training will be held in August or September.

Qualified applicants will show excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively network with students and faculty within their disciplines as well as in other areas.

CSUV Ambassadors will receive a monthly stipend for each month of active service as well as a bonus in the form of a travel allowance for travel related to their graduate studies or within the field of technology transfer.

 Applications, with CV and cover letter, and faculty approval form must be submitted no later than Aug. 9 to Steve Foster,  Interviews will be conducted in August, with Ambassadors expected to participate in the training program in August or September.
