Registration starts May 17

Non-credit activity classes are a fun way to try something new, or to continue to develop skills in various physical activities.

The following classes will be offered during summer sessions at the Campus Rec Center. Sound like something you'd like to try? If so, you can register for summer sessions starting on May 17.

Belly Dancing Basics

Dance away the calories with the undulating isolations and dynamic hip accents of belly dancing! Tone and strengthen your body with arm gestures, torso undulations, hip movements and floor work.

Learn graceful veil movements, play finger cymbals and create your own dances with what you've learned. Course material challenges both beginning students and more advanced dancers. An optional, fun beginning level performance opportunity will be offered toward the end of the course.

This class takes place weekly on Thursdays from 3-5 p.m.

  • Section 1: May 27-June 10

  • Section 2: June 17-July 8

  • Section 1: $38 CSU student member

  • Section 2: $ 49 CSU student member

Find harmony with your world through a martial art. Ki-Aikido emphasizes the coordination of mind and body in action while flowing instead of conflicting with your world.

A true martial art, Ki-Aikido presents a philosophy that can be integrated into everyday life. Self-defense, meditation, breathing, balance, movement, confidence and relaxation are encompassed in this introductory course.

Activity classes provide an opportunity to try something new or continue skill development while having fun. Activity classes are committed to enhancing the lifestyles of CSU students, Student Recreation Center Members, and community members through health and fitness.

This class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. The class starts May 25 and goes through July 29.

  • $46 CSU student member / SRC member

  • $60 nonmember

Pre-registration is required. Exceptions may be made with departmental approval. A $5 late registration fee will be assessed upon approval.

Shotokan Karate

Shotokan Karate is a traditional Japanese martial art focusing on empty hand techniques. Students in this class will learn fundamental blocking, kicking and striking techniques and forms (kata). Application of these techniques will be taught and practiced through sparring and self defense drills.

Benefits include increased fitness, strength and coordination as well as improved confidence. Shotokan karate is very widespread, helping students to continue training over breaks and after college should they so desire.

All experience levels are welcome. This class meets on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 7-8:30 p.m. The class starts on May 25 and goes through July 22.
