Smart chip RamCards: Your ticket to MAX, Transfort

August 27, 2014

CSU faculty and staff are eligible to ride the new MAX bus rapid transit and all Transfort fixed-routes (excluding Transfort Green and Gold night services and Dial-A-Ride) at no cost as an employee benefit.

To take advantage of this service all staff and faculty must upgrade their RamCards by Oct. 1.

The benefit will also extend to Around the Horn, the new on-campus shuttle with 13 stops.

Upgrade your card

Starting Oct. 1, Transfort's smart-chip boarding system will require all RamCards to contain a smart chip to access the new services. CSU faculty and staff can stop by the RamCard Office to obtain a free upgraded chip card. The trade-in process is relatively simple. If your photo on file is relatively recent, you can choose to reuse it or request a new photo.

The RamCard Office is currently located in Room 203 of Morgan Library and is open Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. during the academic year while the LSC is under renovation.

The new smart chip RamCard is already in use for door access in many buildings across campus and can also be used to access the tennis courts. If you are currently using your RamCard for building or tennis court access you are already upgraded and do not need to trade in your card. Likewise, if you have a RamCard Plus you already have a smart chip and do not need to trade your card.

Student RamCards are already equipped with the smart chip technology, and do not need to be replaced.

Employees and associates who have not yet received a RamCard are eligible for their first card free.Bring a valid government-issued identification (driver’s license, passport, or military ID) to the RamCard Office to request your first card, with a chip.

If you have lost your RamCard, you can purchase a replacement card with a smart chip.

Banking available, too

All employees are eligible to request a free upgrade to a RamCard Plus when you trade in your card.  A RamCard Plus provides debit banking services with First National Bank, CSU's official banking partner. The "First at Work" series of products and services are designed specifically for our campus.
