CSU softball players to get their pink on

March 23, 2012

The CSU softball team will promote cancer awareness with its annual 'pink' game when it hosts Northern Colorado at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The CSU softball team celebrates a victory earlier this season at Ram Field. The Rams will wear pink for the game at Ram Field, and RamStrength will be handing out free cancer awareness wristbands. RamStrength provides financial assistance for cancer survivors in Fort Collins and Northern Colorado.

Rams playing well

CSU took a 12-17 record into a weekend tournament in California. The Rams and second-year coach Jen Fisher have already surpassed last year’s win total (8) and are preparing for their April 13 Mountain West opener at San Diego State.

First of four

This is the first of four games against UNC, with three of the four being played in the next two weeks. CSU plays the Bears on April 4 in Greeley and April 11 at Ram Field. The final game of the annual series is May 2 in Greeley.

The Rams, fielding a roster loaded with freshmen and sophomores, have been competitive throughout the season despite facing a difficult schedule that includes six teams that are either ranked or receiving votes in national polls.

Free admission

Admission is free to all CSU home games.
