15th-ranked Rams host invitational Sept. 10-11

Rams open play tonight against Texas Tech in four-team, round-robin event at Moby Arena. Action continues Saturday with matches against Northeastern, Illinois State.

The 15th-ranked Colorado State University volleyball team will look to extend its home-court dominance this weekend when it hosts Texas Tech, Northeastern, and Illinois State in the annual Ram Volleyball Classic.Ram volleyball

Moby Madness

The Rams, who have won 18 of their past 19 matches at Moby Arena, bring a 5-1 record into this round-robin event after winning two of three matches at the Campus USA Credit Union Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The Rams lost to fourth-ranked Florida in four sets in the final game of the Labor Day weekend event.

CSU opens play at 7 tonight against Texas Tech (2-4). The Red Raiders already have matched their win total from last season, and return 10 letterwinner’s from last year’s team. The Rams play two matches Saturday, facing Northeastern (5-2) at noon and Illinois State (6-2) at 7 p.m.

Seniors Davisson, Minch lead way

CSU is led by senior outside hitters Jacque Davisson and Danielle Minch. Davisson, who was MVP of the Campus USA Credit Union Invitational, averages a team-best 3.55 kills per set, while Minch is second with 2.9. Junior setter Evan Sanders leads the offense with 212 assists.

$1 admission Saturday for heroes

CSU is sponsoring “Local Heroes Night” for the Saturday match against Illinois State. CSU is offering $1 admission to service members from all branches of the military, along with police, fire, and EMT services personnel, for the 7 p.m. match.
