Asian Fest April 19-May 2

The Asian/Pacific American Cultural Center presents a series of campus events April 19 through May 2, filled with rich entertainment, food, speakers, and even a Hawaiian lu'au -- all in celebration of Asian culture.

Yellow Rage (slam poetry)
Monday, April 19, 7 p.m.
Lory Student Center Theatre

Together, Michelle Myers and Catzie Vilayphonh are a dynamic duo of Philly-based Asian American female spoken-word poets, known as Yellow Rage.

Through their voices, Myers and Vilayphonh hope to provide an awareness that is not often heard. Exploring topics from fetishes to cultural appropriation to ethnic pride, Yellow Rage challenges mainstream misconceptions of 'Asianness.'

Napalese and Malaysian Women's Perspectives on Culture and Religion

Panel discussion and presentation about Napalese and Malaysian Women's perspectives on culture and religion.

Chocolate Rap film

This film is focused on hip hop culture in Taiwan. A free dinner will be served at this event.

An ambitious break-dancer battles rival b-boys before attempting to pass on his skills to the next generation in this ambitious Asian hip-hop film from director Chi Y. Lee.

The annual Hui 'O Hawaii Club lu'au is an experience not to be missed! Dance performances and traditional lu'au dishes are part of an enchanting evening celebrating the Hawaiian culture.

Tickets can be purchased at the Campus Box Office in the Lory Student Center and will be available at the door on the day of the event.
